Tonight’s track is for the awesome blogger at abreathingworkofart. She messaged me to share a poem she wrote for her husband when they first got engaged and challenged me to turn it into a song. The lyrics are entirely her words; I just added a melody, a guitar, and a voice. Again, I’m at the beach this week with just my nylon acoustic and my laptop’s internal mic; I apologize for the white noise and huge reverb. I like the echoey minimalism, though. I would gladly do more collaborations like this, so don’t be shy about putting in requests, listeners. Also, it has become painfully apparent to me that Tumblr eats messages—so when you click our Ask. button, you will now see our email address. If you don’t hear from us, try again; we respond to everybody! Enjoy the music, friends. — K.C.

     Let It Be Known

Too long my heart laid in wait,
Yet it was not too soon that I found you.
As back then your heart had song,
Gentle whispers to your eyes.

Let it be known if you are lost,
I will guide you with my wings.
If your shadows cause you pain,
I will qualm them with my roar.

You only need to but whisper,
and I will share with you my heart.
Never will the gods split us,
for they would tremble at my fury.
CHORUS

Know that now and forever, I give to you
fully of what heart I can give.
Know that now and forever, I will love you—
forever, always, and beyond time’s end.
